So I am watching the news of the Iran Revolution 2.0 as much as I can.
Go peaceful regime adjustments! I don't know that it's exactly change but
blah blah ...the point?
I'm a shallow american that loves to play "No Nose Job" when watching the videos. Oh I love the excitementand the thrill of politics in action and I love watching the blurry night time videos on You Tube of people darkening their homes opening their windows or going to thier balconies and screaming *llah Akbar ... goose pimples.
The old ladies charging the police to stop young men from getting beat...
love it..
but since Iran is the Nose Job capital of the world. I believe the figure is like 1 out of every 4 people you meet who is Iranian has a nose job. the numbers are higher for those in Terhan under 30. What I think is so interesting is that they all look very similar. It's the same nose on face after face. I saw a docmentary on this a couple years ago and it was facinating.
I LOVE looking for and finding the one guy in the crowd with a classic Iranian beak. He or the more rare she needs to be clearly under 35 to qualify in our game.
So the next time you see that green handed lovely flashing you a peace sign as she gazes brightly in to the camera, look past her into the crowd and see if you can spot a virgin nose.
My prayers are with them as they make the changes they want and I really hope no more deaths result. Sometimes I just need a little break from the tension.
WIP WEDNESDAY #7
well, I am sick as a dog with a cold and flu. Am I sick as a a pig? I hope not.
We are watching the Iran situation very close. We love politics and world news in our house.
I found this tid bit online:
The man who leaked the real election results from the Interior Ministry - the ones showing Ahmadinejad coming third - was killed in a suspicious car accident, according to unconfirmed reports, writes Saeed Kamali Dehghan in Tehran.
Mohammad Asgari, who was responsible for the security of the IT network in Iran's interior ministry, was killed yesterday in Tehran.
Asgari had reportedly leaked results that showed the elections were rigged by government use of new software to alter the votes from the provinces.
Asgari was said to have leaked information that showed Mousavi had won almost 19 million votes, and should therefore be president.
If you want to see what I am up to check my flickr ... im lazy and sick .
Denyse Schimdt Here I Come!
Pretty flower from our garden.. Its hard to focus on quilting when there is so much pretty good ness.
In other news:
I finished Mom's ZigZag Quilt. Backed it with bright pinky/orange to give it zing and MAN! its zingy! Mom doesn't like busy patterns and designs. For years( err, decades) , she had one of those hudson trading post striped blankets on her bed. I had that loosely in mind when I made this one.
Here is a shot of her hand. holdng tissue like always. I asked her to put it on the bed to get a picture. So universally an old lady hand.. I wanted to capture it.
I finally got this bound and finished. I'm pretty happy with it. It's my own design and used my own simplified construction technique to make the blocks. Hooray! I was gonna sell it on Etsy but I think I am going to use it as a class sample. Darn, I will have to make it again. :)
My machine binding on this one is really good - if I do say so myself. So check out the photos on flickr.com to see it up close.
Not all my projects come together to make a great quilt. I think the fabric here is a loser. I should have been more focused and used tighter standards for fabric placement, instead of just using my current favorites.
On the other hand I think the quilting compliments the design in a way that I rarely can acomplish. I kind of love traditional quilting but it can be a bit static and "oldtimey". I try to do a modern freehand that pays homage to traditional quilting without being stuffy and too formal. I want the quality to be there, the craftmanship, but I also want a certain casual, of the moment, breath of fresh air feeling in it as well.
Okay, lots of folks have asked and I just heard today.
I got into the Denyse Schmidt class!! Here in Portland! Hooray. I'm thrilled! I am grateful! I am not gonna be happy getting up that early in the morning!
If you too are going, drop me a line and we will talk.

W(not)IP Wednesday #7
Sucked in by the flickr Pool Designer Fabric Stash Swappy Poo I have yet to resurface and get anything done. Seriously, too much dang fun.
This is the board where I put my daily 9 patches... empty.
When I am just goofing off I "work" on these circles ... Ha .. .I am loathe to cut the fabric so I do a lot of petting and ironing and anything but cutting so sewing is so slow... then I put it away till I am between projects again.
What am I supposed to be working on? When I am not driving to the post office to drop off swaps.... I'm quilting. Trying to quilt? Avoiding quilting... what ever...
Tomorrow I go to the Mandatory Hotel to volunteer. Hopefully I will get on task here pretty soon.

So Far So good.
Here's my Daily nine patches so far. I am continuing on the Amy Butler Charm/30's blocks and kinda starting to like it again, I was kinda unsure there for awhle. I was kinda thinking of doing Kaffe as well but I can see now, that with over half my blocks done, that the ABC/30's and some of my fav's may be all I have room for.
This may be a habit I stay into for a while. I now can see so many 9-patch ideas spreading out before me . That dark orange 9 patch block may have to go now that I look at this photo, I am thinking of using red in sashing plan (maybe).
I know I have been MIA ... Ive been taking a wee break. But here's my status:
Yesterday we had a mighty wind storm and our tree got bent..It's supposed to mask the pole from our view from the window.
Lots of litter from the oak in our back garden.
I ordered the catalog from Quilt National. It arrived with some postcards, happy me.
I started a new project with this jelly roll and layer cake from Fig Tree.
It's like Moda Porn.
I am continuing to work on my ball. Its over 3" now and starting to get heavy.:)
I feel so behind and kind of anxious. A few weeks ago I went on a little quilting related trip and have pics so that's coming.
This Sunday I am going to a workshop at the Mandatory Hotel. It's my first one, I'm taking cookies so they like me.
I did in fact get into my class, more later as that develops.
